The 5-Star graded Lichenry Lodge at Nooitverwacht, located two hours from Johannesburg, is situated adjacent to the 1200-hectare Doorndraai Dam Nature Reserve in the Waterberg area.
The 1200-ha reserve has magnificent views of the Waterberg and plays host to an abundance of birdlife (ideal for birdwatchers), exotic game including Bush Buck, Golden Wildebeest, Giraffes' and Elands as well as most of the plains game species for game viewing.
The name ‘Nooitverwacht’ means ‘never expected’. True to its’ name, ‘Nooitverwacht’ is a haven of exceptional and unexpected African beauty, and home to incredible wildlife and history.

What a gorgeous Limpopo gem for a bush break. The decor is a mix of modern and classic bush. The experience included a pool, jacuzzi, a spa, fire pit for braaing and potjie kos cooking. The self catering lodge has all amenities. Then there's the game drives at leisure, quad biking and pigeon shooting. My husband and I booked a weekend to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Our experience was hands down, a 10/10 affair.
